Why the World loves Pickleball right now
- Easy for beginners, challenging for pros
- Social and friendly – doubles play is huge
- Great for all ages – from kids to retirees
- Less strain on knees and shoulders than tennis
- Fast-growing sport with global tournaments
How Pickleball is different to Padel
- Padel is played on an enclosed court with walls, allowing for rebounds, while pickleball is played on an open court.
- Padel uses a tennis-like ball and solid rackets, whereas pickleball uses a plastic perforated ball and paddles.
How Pickleball is different to Tennis
- Smaller court means less running and more rallying
- Lighter paddle makes it easier on your joints
- Faster games means you have more matches in less time

What Our Players Say
Highly recommended for all abilities!"
As a previous tennis player and member of the board of Westside, and having given up tennis due to injury a number of years ago, I was looking for an activity to maintain fitness, and pickle ball was suggested. When I learned that Allan had started a group at my old tennis club, I decided to join.
Equipment is provided with two hours of court hire. I plan Monday and Friday mornings socially but Allan also offers evening social and competition pickleball.
I can highly recommend pickleball as a sport, especially if you are looking to get back into an activity after a break. It's great fun!
Pickleball can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. It is a sport for people who want to stay active and improve or maintain fitness levels. The game is relatively easy to learn, and more experienced players are always willing to help newer players learn the rules.
I started the Pickled Parkies as an experiment for my patients with Parkinson’s Disease to see if it might be a tenable and clinically appropriate activity that sparked fun in a supportive environment. What I’ve found is a sport that appeals to the masses! It appeals to competitive and more moderate personalities, is a dynamic way of moving, includes dual tasking and challenges coordination. In the words of my patients, Pickleball is “Awesome!”, “Addictive!!”, “Exercise without realising it” and “Plain good fun!
